Third Annual Teacher’s Back to School Luncheon 2019

Our 3rd Annual Teacher’s Back to School Luncheon was a huge success. We were able to help teachers from 18 local public schools with some of their supply needs for the new school year. As our guests arrived they checked in at the front table then made their way down the School Supply Boulevard they were able to meet some of our chamber’s businesses and learn about their goods and services. Once entering the main lobby of Bloomingdale Senior High School teachers took fun photos at the Brandley photo booth while listening to the Bloomingdale Orchestra play.

Each group of teachers found their table and were greeted by their table sponsor. At their spots at the table, they found delicious cookies by Leann’s Cookies and creatively displayed school supplies designed by their table sponsor.

Once seated the Bloomingdale ROTC presented their colors and everyone participated in the pledge of allegiance and then breakfast
was served by Chick-fil-A at Bloomingdale and Yo-Yo Juice.

Superintendent Jeff Eakins started off the series of guest speakers by welcoming all of the teachers, new and seasoned, to the luncheon and encouraged them to have a successful school year. Mr. Eakins then introduced Melissa Snively, Hillsborough County School Board Member & owner of her State Farm branch. Mrs. Snively, also welcoming the teachers and shared her kind words with all in attendance. Once she was finished speaking she introduced the first guest speaker, Alisson Kropff with News Channel 10. With full and professional composure, Mrs. Kropff gave her speech on the very day she lost her husband four years prior.
She shared her story of change which she hoped would help each attendee stay strong and take any potential change positively.

From Mrs. Kropff, we were able to listen to our second and last guest speaker, Florida’s Teacher of the Year and former Lithia Springs Elementary student, Dr. Dakeyan Cha Dre Graham. Another amazing speaker! Mr.Graham has not only been a local student but now a very successful educator right here in Hillsborough County. He loves his students and loves to motivate others to follow in his footsteps.

Last but not least we heard from our very own chamber member, Angie Kagey who is the 2019 Honorary Mayor of Brandon and also from our chamber President and owner of Excellence First Insurance, Melissa Gallway. Mrs. Gallway spoke about the membership opportunities we have
to offer, our chamber involvement in the community and mentioned our upcoming Shop Local event in November.

Teachers and principals who attended this luncheon were so appreciative of everything our chamber did for and donated to them. We could not have presented them with all of the back-to-school goodies if it wasn’t for our sponsors and volunteers. Thank you to everyone who participated:
